Precautions After SMILE Surgery

Postoperative Care Guidelines:

Postoperative care is just as crucial as the surgery itself for optimal recovery.

  • Avoid rubbing or putting pressure on your eyes on the day of surgery.
  • Rest your eyes: Avoid using screens (TV, smartphones, tablets, computers, e-readers) and activities like reading that demand intense eye focus on the day of surgery.
  • Use artificial tears frequently throughout the day and blink often to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.
  • Protect your eyes from UV radiation: Wear sunglasses or a hat on bright days.
  • Pregnancy: It is safe to attempt pregnancy one month after discontinuing all medications. If you become pregnant while on medication, please contact us.

Allowed from the Day After Surgery (After Postoperative Check-up):

  • Reading books, watching TV, using a computer, visiting public baths or saunas, washing your face with soap or cleanser, applying skin or eye makeup.

1 Week Post-op:

  • Light exercise such as jogging and stretching, swimming.

2 Weeks Post-op:

  • Drinking alcohol, smoking.

1 Month Post-op:

  • Strenuous exercise, including boxing and ball games, hair perming or dyeing.


Precautions After  LASIK  Surgery

Postoperative Care Guidelines:

Postoperative care is as essential as the surgery for ensuring the best results.

  • Avoid Rubbing or Pressure: Do not rub or apply pressure to your eyes on the day of surgery.
  • Limit Screen Time: To prevent eye strain and promote healing, avoid screens (TV, smartphones, tablets, computers, e-readers) and any activities like reading that require intensive eye use on the day of surgery.
  • Use Artificial Tears: Use artificial tears frequently throughout the day and blink often to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.
  • Protect from UV Radiation: Wear sunglasses or a hat on bright days to shield your eyes from ultraviolet radiation.
  • Pregnancy: Pregnancy can begin one month after stopping all medications. If you become pregnant while using the medication, please contact us.

Allowed from the Next Day Post-op:

  • Reading books, watching TV, using a computer.

2 Days Post-op:

  • Face wash with soap or cleanser, skin care, and applying skin makeup.

1 Week Post-op:

  • Light exercises like jogging and stretching, and eye makeup.

2 Weeks Post-op:

1 Month Post-op:

  • Strenuous exercises such as boxing and ball games, hair perming or dyeing.


Precautions After  LASEK(PRK) Surgery

Postoperative Care Guidelines:

Postoperative care is just as crucial as the surgery itself for optimal recovery.

  • Avoid Rubbing or Pressure: Do not rub or apply pressure to your eyes on the day of surgery.
  • Limit Screen Time: To prevent eye strain and promote healing, avoid screens (TV, smartphones, tablets, computers, e-readers) and activities like reading that demand intensive use of your eyes on the day of surgery.
  • Use Artificial Tears: Use artificial tears frequently for the first 4 days after surgery and blink often to keep your eyes moist and comfortable. Dryness may cause the bandage contact lenses to come off.
  • Protect from UV Radiation: Wear sunglasses or a hat on bright days for at least 6 months to shield your eyes from ultraviolet radiation.
  • Pregnancy: Pregnancy can be attempted one month after stopping all medications. If you become pregnant while using the medication, please contact us.

Allowed from 5 Days Post-op (After Lens Removal):

  • Face washing with soap or cleanser, applying skin makeup.

1 Week Post-op:

  • Light exercise, such as jogging and stretching.

2 Weeks Post-op:

  • Drinking alcohol, smoking, eye makeup, visiting public baths or saunas, swimming.

1 Month Post-op:

  • Strenuous exercise, including boxing and ball games, hair perming or dyeing.


Precautions After  PIOL Surgery

Postoperative Care Guidelines:

Postoperative care is just as crucial as the surgery itself for optimal recovery.

  • Artificial Tears: Use artificial tears frequently throughout the day and blink often to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.
  • Avoid Rubbing or Pressure: Do not rub or put pressure on your eyes for 2 weeks. Wear plastic eye shields while sleeping for 1 week to prevent rubbing.
  • Precautions Against Complications: Vigorous head shaking or rubbing your eyes can lead to complications, such as lens displacement, intraocular bleeding, or retinal detachment.
  • Avoid Strain: Refrain from bending from the waist to pick up objects, as this can cause unnecessary pressure on your eyes. Do not lift heavy objects.
  • Pregnancy: It is safe to attempt pregnancy one month after stopping all medications. If you become pregnant while using the medication, please contact us.

  • Face washing with soap or cleanser, applying skin makeup, shampooing.

1 Week Post-op:

  • Light exercise, such as jogging and stretching.

2 Weeks Post-op:

  • Drinking alcohol, smoking, visiting public baths or saunas, swimming.

1 Month Post-op:

  • Strenuous exercise, including boxing and ball games, hair perming or dyeing, eye makeup.


Precautions After CATARACT Surgery

Postoperative Care Guidelines:

Postoperative care is just as crucial as the surgery itself for a successful recovery.

  • Rest and Recovery: Rest with your eyes closed on the day of surgery to promote healing.
  • Sleep Position: Sleep on your back to avoid contact with your eyes, using a fluffy pillow to support your head and neck.
  • Artificial Tears: Use artificial tears as often as possible and blink frequently to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.
  • Avoid Rubbing or Pressure: Do not rub or put pressure on your eyes for 4 weeks. Wear plastic eye shields while sleeping for 1 week to prevent rubbing.
  • Avoid Strain: Avoid shaking your head vigorously or bending from the waist to pick up objects, as this could put undue pressure on your eyes. Do not lift heavy objects for 4 weeks.
  • Be Careful When Moving: Be mindful not to bump into doors or other objects while walking around post-surgery.

Allowed from the Day After Surgery:

  • Reading books, watching TV, using a computer.

1 Week Post-op:

  • Face washing with soap or cleanser, showering, shampooing.

4 Weeks Post-op:

  • Drinking alcohol (no heavy drinking for 2 months), smoking, swimming, hair perming, or dyeing.

8 Weeks Post-op:

  • Strenuous exercise, including boxing and ball games, public baths or saunas.
